It’s not the end of the World…

It’s not the end of the World…

Yesterday I was told to eliminate coffee from my diet for the next 4-6 weeks. Today, my Bulletproof Coffee shipment arrived. arghh!

…but I can see it from here.

This will be the first of many posts about some changes I am subjecting myself to, to unravel a health mystery I have dealt with for at least two decades. During that time I have been treating the symptoms with medication. As I am trying to deal with this issue through nutrition, I am beginning a four to six week Anti-Inflammatory Diet.

Most of the foods that must be excluded have already been eliminated from my diet when I “went Paleo”. Things like fruit juice, corn, white potatoes, grains, processed products containing wheat, corn, barley, soy, and of course sugar. I left behind peanuts and peanut products ages ago. Faux fats are a thing of the past.

But here is what has thrown me into a major funk: No Beef! No Pork! (can you say Bacon?) No Eggs! Oh, and did I say no eggs? No Shellfish! No Red Wine! No Chocolate! Now hold onto your seat because it only gets worse from here: No Coffee!

Last night I cried myself to sleep. When I woke up I brewed a nice pot of coffee for Suzanne and I didn’t get to have any. Later when I left the gym, I couldn’t stop at Starbucks for my post-WOD Guatemalan Antigua. When we were in Gloucester for lunch I couldn’t have 95% of the stuff on the menu. Then we couldn’t stop at the Lone Gull Coffee Shop for my afternoon latte for the drive around Cape Ann.

Overall I think my first day without coffee went well, don’t you? Oh, it’s 9:00, time to cry myself to sleep again. I’ve got to get my rest, I think it’s going to be a long day on Saturday.
