Last week I wrote about adding some fun to my walking, by adding a long Farmer Carry to the mix.
Today I decided to mix it up a bit more. The basic premise was still to do a mile Farmer Carry, but I wanted to spice it up somehow.
I decided to get off the track, and onto the soccer field. The grass was nice under my feet.
I broke all my routines into 100m chunks.
So I performed one Farmer Carry downfield 100 meters. Then I set the weight down, did 10 air-squats, followed by 10 push-ups. Then I picked up the weights and did the carry back up the field.
Once I arrived back upfield, I dropped and did 10 burpess, then picked up the weight and went back downfield.
Lather, rinse, repeat for 2,000 meters.
My imagination is creating more fun ways to spend summer mornings outdoors at the track.
What are your ways to get out of the gym during the summer?

Always love me some farmers carries!!! I like how you mix it up with bodyweight movements, I try and do this type of training for Spartan racing as often as possible. Keep up the enjoyable writing Chuck I always look forward to reading it.
Scott, I’m pleased that you enjoyed the feature. The third installment is ready to go. Expect it in a couple days. It ramps up the activity even more. There’s only a couple months of decent weather before the snow flies. I’ll have to find an indoor alternative.
