Yesterday was a treat for me.
It was a holiday from the office, and it included a morning CrossFit WOD, followed by an evening Barbell Club .
I have spent little time in the gym since before Christmas, because of illness. So I was eager to see what I could do.
The workout was fun stuff. Skill work included front squats, bowler lunges and glute bridges. The WOD was a 10 minute AMRAP of 5 Backsquats from the floor, 15 Russian Kettlebell Swings, and 30 Double-Unders (or in my case 60 Singles).
I had a great time. I made it into the 5th round before time ran out. And just in case glutes and abs didn’t get enough fun, a few of us did a double-tabata of planks and kettlebell twists.
In the evening I went to my local Barbell Club and we spent a half hour on Snatches, and a half hour on Clean & Jerk.
It felt great to be back after an extended absence.
So why did I ask you if you remember your first WOD? Because for many of us, our first WOD is a distant memory. BUT, if you want a vivid memory, take two months off and come back for Glute Day. I had forgotten how sweet it can be, to be sore.
Be Defiant! Be Well!
