Why can’t I ever do the Open WODs right the first time? They are bad enough, but to subject oneself to a repeat is inhumane, or at least stupid.
I mentioned in my previous post how I crashed and burned trying to jerk 95# so I only scored 32 official points, so I dropped 20# and finished with 120 points scaled.
So Nicole told me I have to stay after school for detention. Friday I went back to the Box and all I did was work on my form. What I discovered was that I do not have any form. Once I clean the bar, I need to dip and pop the hips to launch the bar and then get under it with a split or squat. If only doing it was as easy as typing it.
Nicole was most patient with me. Chad and Greg Smith also had some tips for me. But by the end of my Friday morning session I still suck at this lift. I can pull it off with lower weights because I have been letting my arms make up for my bad form. With heavier weights, that is a recipe for disaster.
I need to get that bar resting on my chest/shoulders and pop that bar up and quickly get under it. My lack of speed and flexibility are negatively affecting my ability to execute this. I am taking Saturday off from the gym. I will work on mobility and flexibility. I will work on form with a PVC pipe. I have to be ready for Sunday morning redux.
