My friend Colleen demanded that this recipe be posted to the blog. Defiant Wellness is becoming an essential part of her menu planning process, so I complied.
I eat these sliders for breakfast, but the reality is that they are good for any meal. Which meal you choose will affect what you serve as a side and which condiments you use.
For breakfast, I serve them with eggs and a side of applesauce. For dinner, have some broccoli drenched in Kerry Gold and toss a few spoonfuls of quality sauerkraut on the side. Either way, it’s a delightful alternative to a beef burger.
- 2 pounds of quality ground pork
- 1/2 cup of minced Vidalia onion
- 1 1/2 cups of diced Granny Smith apples
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of Himalayan Sea Salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Saute the onion in Coconut Oil, then blend with the pork, apples and seasoning. Form the meat mixture into patties. You should get about a dozen. Your mileage may vary, depending upon how big you make them.
Cook on a medium hot skillet for 6-10 minutes per side, or until the patties are cooked all the way through, showing no pink in the center. Serve on a folded Romaine lettuce leaf with condiments and eat it like burger, or serve it for breakfast as described at the top of the page. No matter how you serve these, you are gonna love ’em!
Guilty as charged! I demanded the recipe be posted. I need all the help I can get. Thanks, Chuck & Sue!!
